Exercise has proven to keep a body fit and to help with anti aging skin. Exercise helps people to live a long productive life which contributes to anti aging creams. As we grow older, the bodily functions decline. If a person fails to stay active in their lifetime, the aging process speeds up full force ahead. If you work out when you are young, you will feel good for a long time to come. When dealing with anti aging creams exercise should include cardiovascular workouts. Aerobics is a great workout that helps you to work the heart. The workout will increase your heart rate as well as pump your blood so that it flows smoothly to the heart. You will also need to build strength to prevent injured joints when dealing with anti aging creams also you may enjoy weightlifting to achieve a resistance workout.
Studies have shown that those working out with weights can live a long and productive life and this also has been seen to have effects when it comes to skin care aging. Also when dealing with skin care regimen experts conducted a study while dividing three clusters of men, which one group had a higher resistance since they lifted weights. The second group failed, as did the third grouping of men, since these people had little activities going in their life. The cluster of men where asked to walk a great distances and at a particular length. During the study experts found that those who worked out had lower cholesterol levels which helps with skin care regimen. Those who did not workout had a higher level of cholesterol. According to the experts and study results resistance workout can enforce freedom of blood flow and increasing improvement of overall strength.
When also dealing with anti aging secrets we see that weightlifting has proven to boost metabolism, which gives a person energy. In addition, the workouts will strengthen the muscles and provide you with the will to carry on through life while enjoying endurance which also relates to anti aging foods. Those who fail to workout should be alert that the density of bones decrease. Once the bones density decreases the blood will slowly channel to the heart, which puts you at risk of heart disease.
When we are talking about anti aging foods we are reminded that weightlifting has proven to decline the risks of high cholesterol. In addition, working out will slow the aging process. When weightlifting however, one should go at their own pace. It is unwise to lift more weights that you can handle.

Insomnia is “difficulty initiating or maintaining sleep, or both” and it may be due to inadequate quality or quantity of sleep. Insomnia is not defined by a specific number of hours of sleep that one gets, since individuals vary widely in their sleep needs and practices. Although most of us know what insomnia is and how we feel and perform after one or more sleepless nights, few seek medical advice.
The symptoms of insomnia typically include:
* difficulty getting to sleep
* difficulty staying asleep (frequently waking up and difficulty getting back to sleep)
* waking up early in the morning
* feeling tired in the morning
If you don’t get enough sleep, you can feel irritable, anxious and depressed. If you need to recover from this disorder then you can find your solution here by clicking chronic insomnia causes
Insomnia is often a symptom of another condition rather than a condition of its own. If insomnia is caused by medical or psychological conditions, treatment for insomnia will focus on those other conditions. When poor sleep quality itself is the major problem, medicines can be prescribed short-term to relieve symptoms.
There is increasing support for therapies that involve modifying behavior and lifestyle. These two approaches-medicine and behavior therapies-may be used together, with medicine helping to provide a good night’s sleep in the short term and behavior therapy helping you develop long-lasting changes in approaches to sleep.
* Consult with your doctor and find out whether there is another reason for your problem like: it can be depression, anxiety, pain, use of stimulants or medicines, inactivity, or poor sleep habits-is causing your insomnia, and then after finding out your main reason for your problem then start treating on it.
* If you can try to change your lifestyle to treat your insomnia, such as changing your sleep environment or schedule, increasing your activity level, or changing what and when you eat and drink.
* Sleep-inducing medicines can be used if other types of treatment don’t work. But medicine should only be used intermittently, and it is not considered the first treatment of choice for long-term insomnia.
Insomnia may be a symptom of another medical or psychological problem, which a patient may need to address first or at the same time. A person with insomnia needs a doctor’s attention if it lasts longer than three to four weeks, or sooner if it interferes with a person’s daytime activities and ability to function. A typical gym workout:
Sweating, breathing hard, watching the timer, cursing under my breath, aching, running out of steam, wishing to be somewhere/anywhere else, bored to tears, embarrassed by the scene in the omni-present mirrors, watching the timer some more, intimidated by the all the other “exercisers”, who make what we are doing look so easy.
Now that we are back to the daily exercise routine on our pre-holiday schedule, and striving to get back to our 30 minutes minimum on the treadmill, preceded by at least 10 really challenging minutes on the dreaded “elliptical”; I thought I might share with you some thoughts.
Oh sure, I know that the health advantages of such efforts far outweigh the downside; but, I certainly don’t have to revel in that knowledge. Exercise is work. Hard work. Age and obesity only increase the effort; so, at age 61 with an extra 80 pounds to carry around, exercise is a four letter word, no matter how you spell it, or perform it.
And granted, I do feel better at the end of each workout session than I did at the outset—at least after my heart rate and respiration normalize—anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes on a “good” day.
Now I’ll need about ten minutes or so in a all too welcomeshower… followed by at least a ten minute “cool off” period before getting dressed. It’s cold and rainy today, so the trek through the parking lot to the car, followed by the fifteen minute drive home won’t do my cold much good.
So, here I am. Back in my cozy, safe office in just under two hours…still sweating…with legs that still think they are on the treadmill. Walking normally again will require another bit of adjustment.
That’s pretty much been the routine since the day after Christmas; resulting so far in a dismal net loss of one of the nine pounds I regained during the Thanksgiving to Christmas “eating marathon”, that occurs in a family of excellent and creative cooks.
Certain that, for all of my efforts, I deserved a lot more than a one pound reward, I did a “google” for ALTERNATIVE EXERCISE; and was presented with a an overwhelming number of options (859,000 “possibles”). Everything from belly dancing and yoga to martial arts and “water exercise for non-swimmers”. Nothing immediately caught my fancy till I hit the page about Isometrics; and was reminded of the truly remarkable results achieved by my high school wrestling team when they switched to using the Isometric exercise routine exclusively, and started winning match after match.
Isometrics has been practiced since even longer ago than my high school years….for thousands of years, in fact; used by athletes and health conscious civilians alike. There are probably even biblical references—cave paintings at least, though I can personally vouch for neither.
Thinking to narrow the search, I did another “google”. This time for “isometrics define” and was treated to 565,000 results. Not much relief there.
So, it’s one more search, this time going right to the core—a search for “isometrics” yielded a little over four million results. That is if you can consider 140,000 to be a “little over”.
And as usual, a significant number of those results have been created by someone with something to sell. One gentleman in particular is most noticeable with a “super-deluxe, one-of-a-kind, guaranteed results GIZMO”. His pages are well done, and are actually kind of entertaining; especially when you know as an absolute fact that a major advantage of Isometrics is that it can be done anywhere, anytime, by nearly anyone…with absolutely NO SPECIAL EQUIPMENT REQUIRED.
Sure, the GIZMO with the funny name, might be fun; and if someone gives you one, don’t throw it away. Just put it in the closet where it was probably destined to end up anyhow.
For now, here’s a free “intro to Isometrics lesson” that you can expand as you see fit:
(1) Put your palms together in front of you at chest height.
(2) Push; and count slowly to seven.
Well done! You’re off to a great start.
Check back here regularly as we add more exercises and share some of our own personal results.

Many people have heard of the Atkins diet, the short name for Atkins nutritional approach. Dr. Robert Atkins invented this low-carb diet. He put on a lot of pounds while he attended medical school. Atkins read about a low-carb diet in one of his medical journals. He decided to improve it and release it under his name.
Atkins Grapefruit Diet
Dr. Atkins came up with new ideas, his Atkins diet, about the nature of weight gain. First, he dismissed the idea that saturated fats were bad. Carbohydrates, found in potatoes, and breads, were the real problem. Atkins held that our obsession with fat actually worsened the problem. He pointed to all the low-fat foods that were high in carbohydrates. That meant people on a diet often ate foods that were worse than they normally ate.
The Atkins diet shifts the focus. By cutting out carbohydrates people would burn stored body fats. Lose the fat lose the weight. Atkins flipped the equation from lowering caloric intake. Now it was all about what your diet can help you burn. Dr. Atkins claimed that his diet would result in the body burning an extra 950 calories each day. But later reviews of his studies found that his claims were false.
Healthcare
In addition to claims of weight loss, Dr. Atkins said his Atkins diet could help people with type 2 diabetes. As opposed to type 1 diabetes, type 2 is often closely associated with diet and people who weigh too much. Therefore, by means of losing weight a person on the Atkins diet would be addressing their type 2 diabetes. Dr. Atkins also said that his Atkins diet would remove the need for medications such as insulin, because it severely cut down on carbohydrates which Atkins claimed were the major cause of type 2 diabetes. But that’s counter to the prevailing medical theories regarding type 2 diabetes which, although recommending that lowered intake of carbohydrates and weight loss help manage diabetes, ascribe no causal relationship between carbohydrates and type 2 diabetes.
So just how does this Atkins diet work? It follows four phases - induction, ongoing weight loss, pre-maintenance and lifetime maintenance. The details of the induction phase is as follows.
South Beach Diet Recipes
As the first phase, Induction is the most crucial and most restrictive portion of the Atkins diet. Atkins is flexible as to the time period – but recommends two weeks. During induction the dieter can consume only about 20 grams of carbohydrates on a day to day basis. The result of this phase should be ketosis, a metabolic reaction by which the body converts stored fat into fatty acids, generally prompted by a lack of glucose. Weight loss during this phase can be extreme – some Atkins followers reported losses of 5-10 pounds a week.
The next three phases of the Atkins diet help establish the levels of carbs people can consume in order to lose weight and to maintain a desired weight. Dr. Atkins himself died of complications of increased fat intake in his diet, which is something to keep in mind when choosing this diet.

Isometrics. What is it…and why should I care?
Well, if you already have the optimal health, body weight, and muscle tone…all you need is a definition before going on your merry way:
ISOMETRICS…according to Wikipedia: a type of strength training in which the joint angle and muscle length do not change during contraction (compared to concentric or eccentric contractions, called isotonic movements). Isometrics are done in static positions, rather than being dynamic through a range of motion. The joint and muscle are either worked against an immovable force (overcoming isometric) or are held in a static position while opposed by resistance (yielding isometric).
ISOMETRICS…according to Merriam-Webster: exercise or a system of exercises in which opposing muscles are so contracted that there is little shortening but a great increase in tone of muscle fibers involved.
And, thanks for stopping by. Need more facts to satisfy your curiosity? A quick “google” for the term isometrics will yield a little over four million results.
Now, for the 98% of the rest of us who aren’t yet blessed with your physical attributes; we need a lot more info; but we need the more practical, applicable kind.
For a quick example: Put your palms together in front of your body at chest height. Push together with as much force as is comfortable…now just a little bit harder…and hold it to the count of seven. Little is gained by holding for more than the seven seconds, so resist the temptation…especially upfront.
Congratulations. You have just completed the “intro to isometrics” course. Feel the warmth coming from the muscles you just tensed? Forearms, biceps, shoulders? That indicates that those muscles are aware of the attention they have received. The warmth is due to the increased blood flow and the metabolism boost.
Repeat that simple exercise once a day for a month. Your two plus minutes of “exercise” will yield some pretty pleasant results. Can’t, Don’t, Won’t believe it? Then prove it to yourself.
Take the one month, seven seconds a day challenge. You will be very, very glad that you did.
OK, so it’s not your arms that are of immediate concern. Want to work on that belly? Substitute, or better yet, include in your daily routine, the following: Take a deep breath and then exhale completely while bending forward from the waist. Don’t feel bad if you are unable to reach those toes—very few of us can.(I hadn’t even been able to see mine for years) When the exhalation is complete, hold your breath and stand up straight; but pull in those belly muscles as far as possible…and hold for that seven second count.
Now you have committed fourteen seconds a day to a powerful upper and middle body workout.
You say you could find an additional fourteen seconds a day?
Wherever you are sitting, push back, extend your legs and cross your feet. Keep them crossed as you try to pull them apart. Now, alternate feet and do again. No need to strain, but you will want to go just a bit past casual and comfortable. Later in the month you can feel free to really put some power in these exercises; especially since you will already have more power. This one is particularly fun because you can place your hands on top of your legs and actually feel what is going on.
These three simple exercises should provide you with all the proof you need. Isometrics works for thousands of people…even those of you who have avoided exercise saying that you just don’t have even a minute to spare. How about 28 seconds?
Just take the 30 day challenge–at either the seven, fourteen, or 28 second a day pace.
No matter, the results will astound you. There’s only one way to find out.
Since you have read this far, you are no stranger to the world of failed diets and exercise routines; and you know that diet and exercise are the two “must-do’s” for any successful weight control program.
The bottom line of any program, old or “new and improved” is pretty basic: EAT LESS….EXERCISE MORE. Our blog and website are totally devoted to the corollaries: EAT BETTER…..EXERCISE SMARTER. Both links will show you what we mean. Weight loss and Weight Control

Flax seed derivatives, the oil specifically, are being put into everything from bread to cereal for added health benefits. Not only is flaxseed nutrient dense, but it contains compounds which may even promote healthy hearts. If you are wondering how to add flaxseed to your diet, you have lots of choices. Flaxseed comes as a ground meal you can add to recipes, as an ingredient in processed foods like cereal and bread, as flaxseed oil, or an oil capsule.
Flax
The edible flaxseed, also known as linseed, is roughly 40 percent fat, 20 percent protein and 30 percent fiber. Several vitamins and minerals are present at high levels in flaxseed including magnesium, manganese and thiamin. If you’re looking for worthwhile dietary additives then this is one form to consider.
Scientists believe that flax makes for healthier hearts due to the high content of fatty acids in the oil. Flaxseed is an excellent supplement that’s full of omega-3 fatty acids. It’s believed that eating a proper ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids helps ward off cardiovascular disease. In the typical American diet, about ten grams of omega-6 fatty acids are consumed for every one of omega-3 fatty acids.
The more Omega-3 in your diet the better. But omega-6 fatty acids are more widespread in commonly consumed foods. One way to reach the proper ratios of omega-6 to omega-3 fats for a truly beneficial healthy heart diet is to eat foods like flaxseed in addition to fish, another source of omega-3s.
Flax Oil for Healthy Hearts
Flax intake may not prevent cardiovascular disease but components of the oil are beneficial.
Flaxseed contains high levels of omega-3 fatty acids and fiber, two food components known to be heart healthy. What all can flax do for your heart: eating flax may reduce blood cholesterol levels, reduce blood glucose levels after eating a meal, and increase blood omega-3 fatty acid levels.
How to Add Flaxseed to Your Diet
You can buy flaxseed already ground as a flaxseed meal. This form of flaxseed is very convenient for adding to recipes or everyday foods. For a product that lasts longer (ground flaxseed turns rancid fairly quickly due to its fatty acid profile) look for whole flaxseeds and grind them as needed.
What is a good serving size of flaxseed? It depends on whether you are adding ground flaxseed or flaxseed oil. For ground flaxseed, start by adding about tablespoon per day to meals and recipes.
One tablespoon contains about 2 grams of fiber, 3 grams of fat (about half of which is healthy omega-3 fatty acids) and many vitamins and minerals. Because of flax’s high fiber content, it’s best to gradually increase the amount of flax you eat each to avoid gastrointestinal problems like constipation.
For flaxseed oil, start with one half to one teaspoon of flaxseed oil. It doesn’t take much to provide the benefit.
One way to add flaxseed to your diet is to use flaxseed in recipes. Ground flaxseed can be added to most baked goods. Just substitute part of the flour with ground flaxseed. Start by using 1/4 cup of ground flaxseed for a full recipe of cookies, muffins, pancakes, waffles or bread. Also, search for tested recipes that already contain flax in larger amounts.
Another choice is to sprinkle ground flax in dishes you eat every day. Don’t be shy about putting flax onto or into everything you eat.
Flaxseed oil is available in bottled form or in gel capsules. You will not gain the benefit of extra fiber and other nutrients by eating the oil alone, but you will get all the omega-3 fatty acids found in flax.
