There’s no secret: we’re all moving faster and faster, with no apparent end in sight.

People are driving and texting on their cell phones!

Think about that.

How absurd is it that we’re so rushed for time that we have to drive a couple thousand pounds of metal down the street at breakneck speeds, while looking at a small screen, fumbling for letters on the keyboard to write back to someone texting us?

I think people should be ticketed for that kind of negligence behind the wheel. Absolutely.

So what does this have to do with ADHD/ADD?

A lot, actually.

We’ve created a society that demands a constant state of buzzing activity. We’ve created an environment that unnaturally demands our focus on the distractions around us. If we stop to get focused on our internal compass, we’ll get run over by someone texting while driving!

The contemplative, peaceful path is being ground up by the churning bulldozer of modern distraction.

So, ADD and ADHD are very likely outcroppings of our brain chemistry in an environment like the kind we’ve created, coupled with our sorely lacking components of our nutrition–plus stress and exposure to environmental pollutants.

Dealing with ADHD and ADD naturally requires a re-tooling of how we view the body, how we live our lives, how we select food and making an effort to ignore a lot of what gets passed off for being important in today’s world.

So, turn off the t.v., put the cell phone and texting away for a week, do a media-fast, eat organic foods, do some yoga or qi gong and get with the program of de-programming.

And get some Omega-3 fatty acids into your diet! Really, it’s one of the best things you can do, and for the money, Omega-3 fish oil is a great daily measure of prevention against the stresses and load placed on the brain and body.

Now get out there and stop doing things!
